Patients in Ibn Sina Hospital in Mosul and death of my colleague

Who said studying medicine is easy? Oh it is very hard, when I see those patients in the Ibn Sina Hospital in Mosul and what they suffer from, I feel so sorry for them, Its this health that they lost, which is the most important thing we own. Most of the patients in Ibn Sina Hospital are from low social state, they need special care and attention, and as I study there I always see new faces comes in and I have seen more than 3 patients died in front of me, but nothing I can do I am still a student (but more than half a doctor).

A couple weeks ago a colleague of me (Israa) died when she had a terrible accident, she was full of energy and just like a flower in spring, but she died and I cried and cried. It is not easy to accept death of someone you know whether she/he was close to you or not, it reminds me of death and that one day I will die and this makes me want to cry but my faith in Allah brings me back to life again and remind me to work hard and to keep on my praying five times per day and to commit to Allah orders.

Seeking for inner peace in Mosul City, But Where ?

Iraq is big prison and I can't wait till I escape from it!! This is totally right and I am feeling of tightness and freedom-less with little (if any) human rights. Every thing disturbs me, from the traffic jam to kidnapping gangs. Especially Mosul city, they are trying to keep people of Mosul city busy with providing enough Gasoline and kerosene in this cold winter.

To make people unable to think what is going on in this City, we are tired of the blocked streets,

Google in association with The National Museum of Iraq start this project in October 2009 when Google group decide to visit Baghdad and they staid in Baghdad for one week to make this opportunity . The National Museum of Iraq contains precious relics from Mesopotamian civilization (the land between the Tigris and Euphrates), its collections among the most important in the world. It contains important artifacts from the over 6,000 year long history of Mesopotamia in 28 galleries and vaults.

Iraqi gifted students schools is the best solution for your children

Iraqi gifted schools improve children's speech, thinking, leading, and give the students wide variety of choices to admit to college in Iraq ( students enter the college they want around world ) with scholarships system and it provide salary to students (about $50 per month) which totally new in Iraq, when I heard  about these Iraqi gifted schools I wished it was opened long time ago to register in it but I thank God that I entered medical college and only 3 years left to graduate and practice medicine as I was dreaming .. :)

This collection of 13 beautiful pictures of duhok city taken by me in 2009 from my trip to duhok city you can see green is controlling everything in duhok and the people are living freely and with great space of peace and green. Through the trip I didn't see single concrete barrier in the streets or any "army men" in the streets but the traffic man; in duhok there is a lot to see and to explore especially in the mountains of duhok and in the north of the city where one of the most beautiful areas I have been visited , the summer resorts in north of duhok city consider as the most peaceful and full of green where man hand didn't destroy the nature life there. life in Iraq and in america

1) you need 5 to 15 min. to pass the traffic and if you were lucky it didn't last more.
2) pupils study all the time without cut off time because there is nothing else to do
3) girls can not go outside homes without their father or brother or even their mother because of annoying police in the streets everywhere and many things
4) women drive cars but many bug them through driving5) if you lost your son/daughter you will never find him/her
6) nothing protect the human in Iraq against unrespected policeman
7) if you make enmity with someone the next week you will be threatened by a call on your phone demanding you to pay them for not killing you or your family.

and just

1) people are simple with simple soul
2) everyone says I am Iraqi and I am proud
3) If you need money you will find people helping you with different ways
4) no one die from hunger
5) many doctors would offer poor people free treatment
6) compulsive education, with charges from primar
y school till graduating from college
7) green everywhere

9 of april 2010 in history of Iraq

Its friday 9 of april 2010 and it is holiday in Iraq and all arabic countries and we have changeable weather here in Iraq this week but now it is clear with cool winds that make everyone feels better, however this day carry sad memory to all Iraqi people since it remind them with the memoir of the War on Iraq in 2003/4/9 and how many people in Iraq loss members of their families from that day till this hour and the count is still on, and especially after the election day in Iraq on 7 of march 2010 when more that 62% of Iraqis give there votes for the persons whom they thought they will be good for Iraq but till now and even after announcement of the results of the elections nothing changed and I am talking on personal side in my city more concrete barrier placed to close the main streets and sub-streets in the city which make very big traffic jam and many many accident all over the day because of these barriers (placed by the army force) and now they are using walls of concrete (2.5 meter high) and this is so terrible and make everyone gets nervous and hypertensive quickly.

this is how I see things from my point that all these explodes happening now is for political reasons and to keep the army under control of certain persons "with power" to make anything.

Mosul city 2010 before elections

Mosul city-Iraq , 26/02/2010 at 7:30 am there was car loaded (as I heard) with explosives in front of Mosul Medical College in Mosul city in Iraq and I had practical exam in parasitology yesterday which must be done at the time with no delay. The police men told people around the college to get out of that place so they can explode the car with no damage and at 10:15 am they explode it and it didn't make load sound not like sudden car explosions with no damage and no harm to any one.

 I want to tell you that there is something abnormal going on Mosul city that all christian people had left the city to the countryside and especially to (Al-Hamdanya village) because they had been threatened by mysterious persons who came to disturb the election in Mosul city and to put fear in Mosul city people's hearts.

Living and hating war and any related stuffs in Mosul

If you want to live in Mosul city you will need you will get used on to be unprotected and with out any means of human rights. Last tuesday on 2/2/2010 at 3:45 am a group of Iraqi army where striking heavily on our front door, we wake up and where frightened and we expected a big catastrophe, dad went downstairs and he opened the door and there was 6 tall army men standing at the door and other 20 man doing the same thing to the neighbours barely I wake up on my sister voice shouting get up and I quickly wore my hijab.
Can you imagine that, I guess no..
These army men where just asking for the IDs of the families and nothing else they were looking at each ID card and if there was a son in the family they wanted to know,
my little brother (7years old)was sleeping and he we didn't woke him when the army know that we have a son and dad told them he is just a kid and my dad showed them his ID they didn't believe and they went to his room and opened their lights on him then quickly left the house he woke up frightened and saying "is there was an army in my bed room!!!!!"
can't they wait till 7 am of even 6 am and then do what they want. While the government him self said there wouldn't be any searching of houses after 7 pm till 6 am of every day.
it looks like they are (young men hunters) if they found and boy or man (16 years - 40 years ) they might take him with out any declarations just because they want.
This is really miserable life that nobody deserve to life in fear of being catched "wrongly" for couple of weeks without any fault.!!!!
This is the 3rd time since 1/1/2010 this happened in parts of the city.
This is not fair really I began hating living in Iraq.
As I heard the Iraqi army was at its best state between 1975 - 2003 and now it is replace be group of worthless men that some of them even don't know reading and writing and some of them use his power to offence people in the road, hit anyone at any time with no reason, speaking badly ant any one, even stealing money while searching houses and now every thing begin to be clear that there is persons inside the military that accused with dealing with terrorists and kidnapping and also stealing banks in Iraq.

Being in the Ibn Sina hospital and relieve patients in Mosul

I have good news about Dr. Muzahim Al Khayat dean of mosul medical college had recovered but he still have some complaints ( to know about whats happened to Dr. Muzahim Al Khayat visit this post and see the comments )This week was amazing I went to Ibn Sina hospital in mosul (General hospital) to take history from some patients and communicate with them. I needed to go to the 5 floor and saw young girl has renal failure and she is only 16 year old, she lives in small village, when she was 4 years old she lost both of here kidneys due to polluted water and she got new kidney from here mother, but now her body is rejecting the kidney and she has to do dialysis every week.

I asked her if has ever gone to school and she said that she had been left the school when she was 11 years old because of her disease. Also she had hypertension due to her renal failure because the kidney isn't functioning well. I tried to make her smile anyhow and to make her feel better.


I met another old woman (80years old) who suffer from her heart, she had angina from 3 months and she was refusing to come to the hospital because she afraid from needles, I was with my friend and we were talking to this old woman and she was very welcoming.

I had also bought new stethoscope from MDF by 20$ and it is really good one.

10 days in mosul city and Duhuk

Just now at 7:32 am of october , 02 , 2009 big explosion happened in mosul city I don't know where but I can tell you that it is big one because of its loudness also few shots are heard and no one in the street nexk to us. "It is really scary when you be in such situation and you won't feel it till you experience to be it war and you wouldn't hear the shot that will kill you. " this how are many people in Iraq thing and live every day to be not afraid from shots or explosions voice.

Last 10 days were filled with many events, my family and I we to Duhuk twice and we bought new furnitures to our new hosue and we went to Dream city in duhuk it is good place if you want to enjoy the GREEN of nature.

The schools and medical college of mosul started in 27/09/2009 and the first day was long day I couldn't wait till 12pm so I back to home. The college uniform will be blur jaket and gray skirt with white shirt.

Iraqi people before war on Iraq

Before war on iraq the people of iraq were under economic siege where no imported food, clothes , and many things. I remember the " dates candy " which was the chocolate of Iraqi children between 1991 till 2003 and there was few other types of chocolats made in iraq and few chocolates from Turkey that was expensive according to the size ( small one coast $0.4 while the salary of the officals was few dollars this was early 90s). I'm talking about most of people of Iraq ( normal working people )

I remember that mom was sewing and knitting us new beautiful clothes because all the clothes in the market were ugly and unproper. Families of Iraq learnt to make every thing at home including bread, clothes, glue, and people of Iraq were inventing new ways to lower spending money to minimum.

However before war on Iraq in 2003 life in Iraq was peaceful calm life no one kills or kidnaps anyone in the Day ! or even in night, no one dares to do this and there was no bombing no suicides.

Baghdad 19/08/2009 under explosions

Today 19/08/2009
95 killed and over 500 injured in Baghdad today. There were 5 Huge explosions hit Baghdad city the capital of Iraq ( the ministry of financial, ministry of defence , ministry of external , deputies board , Alrasheed hotel, Al-Biyaa and Al-Salhia region ) .
The sadness is every where in Iraq, crying our dead . The blood day in baghdad and all Iraq

20 march 2003 in our history, War on Iraq

On 20 March 2003, the US-led coalition forces invaded Iraq to strike targets presidential and in Baghdad and around it. On the ninth of April of the same year, Saddam Hussein's regime officially breaks down. Since then, Iraq entered a new phase in its history differed in almost all aspects of the previous decades.

One manifestation of this transformation, the formation of a government derives its legitimacy from the Iraqi elections based on pluralism instead of one-party control as it was during the regime of Saddam Hussein.

However, the side, the Iraqis has lived through traumatic times and still under the fire of bombings and armed military operations of foreign forces, and ethnic and sectarian reprisals and, which has killed tens of thousands of Iraqis, with the abandonment of hundreds of thousands from their homes voluntarily or involuntarily.

In the six-year anniversary of the invasion of Iraq and the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime, the change in your life, if you're an Iraqi? Are you optimistic or pessimistic?

Terrorism in iraq

The president of Iraq has told the president of Iran to stop funding and sponsoring the insurgency in Iraq. Recently, RPG 29s with armored piercing rounds were found in Iraq in the hands of insurgents. These RPG 29s are manufactured in Iran and so we know where they came from. The president of Iraq has told the president of Iran if this does not cease and desist immediately that Iraq will respond in kind. What does this mean?

It means in Iraq realizes it cannot stop the insurgency because it is being sponsored by a nation-state of Iran, which has a million man army. It also means that if Iran does not stop them, then Iraq will send insurgents into Iran since international terrorism seems to be a weapon of choice in the Middle East and Iraq is getting sick of having its people and innocent women and children slaughtered.

Should Iraq be allowed to use insurgency and international terrorism to defeat international terrorism? Does an eye for an eye still hold true? These are tough questions to answer, but if you were in the president of Iraq's shoes what would you do? Some tough choices have to be made and it appears they may be in the near future.

McCain's confusion on Iraq

If there is any fixed position in John McCain's policy agenda, it's that we must never, ever, set a timetable for leaving Iraq. He regularly flogs Barack Obama for proposing to withdraw by the summer of 2010. So it was a surprise to hear him say Monday, when asked if our troops might depart in the next two years, "Oh, I think they could be largely withdrawn, as I've said."
I guess that makes it unanimous. This week, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said he's amenable to bidding the U.S. goodbye on Obama's schedule. British Prime Minister Gordon Brown indicated his forces also will be heading home soon. Even President Bush has now come around to establishing a "time horizon" for "the further reduction of U.S. combat forces from Iraq." In other words: "We're going to leave, but it's none of your business when."

Despite creeping toward withdrawal himself, McCain continues to lambaste Obama for setting a timetable. But if the current policy is the stunning success depicted by McCain, it should be eminently practical to turn Iraq over to the Iraqis by the middle of 2010. If it is impossible to do that, more than seven years after the occupation began, how can McCain say the existing strategy is working?

The Arizona senator sounded frustrated this week, insisting that Obama was "completely wrong" in opposing the Bush administration's escalation of the war in January 2007. "The fact is, if we had done what Sen. Obama wanted to do, we would have lost," he declared."And we would have faced a wider war.

And we would have had greater problems in Afghanistan and the entire region." What McCain omits is that if he himself had been right all the times before 2007 that he said things were going fine, no surge would have been needed. He's like a weatherman who forecasts clear skies every day and, when the rain finally lets up after a week, expects a standing ovation for his accuracy.If we had done what Obama wanted to do back in 2002, we would not have lost—because we would not have invaded Iraq to start with.

We would not have suffered 4,100 dead and 30,000 wounded or burned through hundreds of billions of dollars.We also would not have diverted ourselves from the correct focus of the war on terrorism. "Greater problems in Afghanistan and the entire region"? Apparently McCain hasn't noticed that we got those in spite of the surge, or more likely because of it.The troop escalation has not been the complete failure Obama suggested it would be, but it has fallen far short of the triumph claimed by Republicans.

The level of violence, though down from the very worst months of the war, remains at levels comparable with 2005, which were considered awful at the time. Iraqi civilians died at a higher rate in the first four months of this year than in the same period of 2005. The number of attacks on U.S. and Iraqi forces is about the same. Here is McCain's definition of success: returning to a pace of bloodshed that was once regarded as intolerable. Even the progress made in the last 18 months is only partly attributable to the additional American forces. Equally important was the decision of Sunni militias to turn against Al Qaeda in Iraq.

McCain insists this shift was only made possible by the surge—when, in fact, it happened several months before. Does he not know what really happened? Or does he not care?Also contributing to the decline in sectarian violence was that by 2007, it already had achieved its main goal: driving Sunnis out of Shiite neighborhoods and vice versa. Of the 5 million Iraqis who fled their homes in the last five years, only 30,000 have returned. The refugee crisis is just one of the results of a war that McCain has supported all along.

The surge didn't provide a remedy to that or the many other afflictions that plague Iraq. For good or ill, though, we have probably achieved about all we can with the means available. That's obvious to most Americans and most Iraqis. Once in a while, the realization even dawns on John McCain.
